So you know that I’m all about fitness, strength and finding unique and powerful ways to achieve a healthy lifestyle. Well, I have found the perfect workout that compliments my jiu-jitsu training – Cardio Barre! As many of you know, I loved to dance growing up, so to combine elements of dance into a workout is so much fun and not to mention, a crazy, hard work out. I SWEAT guys, like I’ve never sweat before- it’s such an awesome buzz! It plays a huge role in my overall health regime so I wanted to take a moment to talk about it properly because I’m so passionate about the results and benefits it offers…
In a nutshell, Cardio Barre is high energy, no impact exercise, combining barre work, stretching, and light weights to focus on toning, flexibility, & resistance exercises which in turn means you’re continuously burning fat… AMAZING RIGHT? It literally checks every box!
For me, it’s the central ethos of the workout which makes it stand apart from many others. The resistance exercises look to not only tone the butt, legs, torso and arms, but to sculpt muscles and elongate the body. This isn’t provided with the usual kicking, jumping and high impact stuff. It uses specially constructed exercises that focus on strengthening and lengthening the muscles while ensuring you are burning fat & keeping the heart rate up. It just feels incredible. I literally feel like I’m walking inches taller, and so much prouder after class!
Let’s face it guys, there’s a reason why dancers have the perfect posture and look stronger, leaner and taller than everyone else. It’s all in the technique, and that’s what the barre work gives you. But you don’t have to be an amazing dancer to get on board with Cardio Barre! On the contrary, it seeks to find the dancer in everyone and to create a warm and inspiring environment to discover movement, co-ordination and elegance through fitness. This is why I love it.
Dance, for me, was always about exploring my emotions through my body and expressing myself with creativity. It has re-awakened the dancer within me. It’s so, so enjoyable and isn’t that what exercise is all about? It’s a great work-out for mind, body and soul. Love, love, love it : )
