So after using all the Skincare producers I told you guys about, I was positively glowing as I walked down the aisle! The results were absolutely amazing, so these products will certainly become part of my daily routine. But there are a few other great tips I wanted to send your way, as the pursuit of fresh, clear skin is as much about how you treat the inside as well as the outside.
1.) Water, Water and more Water! The health benefits of water are undeniable, as it cleanses your body, and helps to eliminate toxins. It also hydrates you and rids your skin of dirt and oils. Experts advise you should drink half your body weight in ounces, or aim for 1.5 litres a day.
2.) Know your Skin Type– Knowing whether your skin is dry, normal, oily or a combination of these, is so important, as this will determine the type of regime you need.
Dry skin needs lots of hydration in the inside with water and rich moisturising creams for the exterior.
I have been using Lancome Gelatee Confort – a gentle cleansing milk and make-up remover. It’s specially formulated for dry skin, enriched with honey, almond extract, cereals, yeast and milk proteins. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated, moisturised, supple and smooth. Love this.
For the eye area I use the ‘Radical Eye Revive Creme’: a four in one treatment proven to hydrate, reduce puffiness, decrease coloration and dark circles and diminish the appearance of wrinkle depth in as little as four weeks, leaving my eyes refreshed and youthful.
Oily skin which is most likely probe to acne, needs treatments such as periodic herbal steam treatments and clay masks.
Once a week I use the ‘Radical Skincare instant revitalising mask’ which is an easy to apply mask that soothes and gives instant radiance whilst providing hydration, vitamins and energy to your skin.
I also use ‘Clarisonic’ – an advanced cleansing system for exfoliation and complete removal of dirt and makeup from your day. It’s amazing.
‘Eradikate’ by Kate Somerville is my FAVORITE spot treatment for blemishes. This product calms flare-ups and helps prevent future breakouts whilst reducing redness. Incredible.
Normal skin is looked in as a blessing by most, but still needs the same care and attention as the others. This is achieved by regular cleansing, toning and moisturising. All the products I have mentioned are now part of my daily, Skincare regime but I also use ‘Radical Peptide Infused Anti-oxident Serum’: an exceptional anti-wrinkle serum that protects, repairs and firms by shielding against the elements which age our skin. Ingredients have been shown to support natural collagen and elasticity in weeks, accompanied by it’s true-to-nature berry bronze hue creating a healthy glow.
3.) Use natural cleansers. Facial cleansers with too many harsh chemicals can actually be harmful to your skin. Some are so potent, they have been known to strip walls! That’s why I love Lancôme Geletee Confort, as mentioned above for Dry Skin. It’s natural ingredients are what promotes faster, healthier repair of the skin.
4.) Ensure a good, nutritious diet. Eating lots of fruits, nuts, seeds, beans etc, as well as taking in the right vitamins and micro-nutrients can do tremendous things for your skin. I recently embarked upon eating a Vegan only diet so no gluten, dairy or coffee, and the results have been astounding. I initially chose this in the run up to my wedding, in order to ensure my skin was as radiant as possible, but I am so impressed and thrilled with the results that I am integrating this in to my daily dietary programme. So plenty of fruit and plenty of vegetables! I juice 5 days a week and also love a nutritious bowl of only fresh, acai fruits as well as vegan protein powder after a workout. My skin is visibly clearer and I no longer experience indigestion and bloating, so overall, I have tons of energy which leads me nicely in to number 5…
5.) Exercise! This is proven to create a healthy glow for your skin and and improve your overall health. They say test as little as 15 mins per day can massively benefit both! As you all know, I am a fierce believer in keeping very active and love every second!
Aside from Jiu-jitsu 3-4 times a week, I have been taking Cardio Barre 3 days a week and love what this does for me. It’s a high energy, no impact class combining barre work and light weights whilst always burning fat with continuous motion. Core ideals are toning and resistance exercises for every major body area, so as well as being great cardio, it strengthens and lengthens your body as you exercise. I sweat like crazy but I feel like my body has been stretched and tightened throughout the workout. Just be sure to
wash your face properly afterwards to remove sweat, dirt and oil build up.
6.) Don’t stay in the Sun too long! Now i know how much we all love to stretch out in the sun, and soak up the rays to achieve the ‘Sun kissed Goddess’ look, but too much of a good thing can lead to damaged skin and possibly serious health problems such as Cancer. Try to limit your exposure to the sun during the middle of the day (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM) and just make sure that if you are in the sun for a long time, that you wear sun screen. This is also a great opportunity to grab our wide brimmed hats and cute sunglasses and make a fashion statement whilst protecting ourselves against harmful rays! Sunlight on your skin is a great source of vitamin D, so just be sensible.
7.) Always wash your make up off properly! Wearing less make up in general is way healthier for the skin, as it gives it a chance to breath and limits the build up of unnatural elements and dirt on our skin. Just be sure to use skin friendly products and to thoroughly wash your make up off before you go to sleep.
Hope this helps guys! I can vouch for all these tips, as I practice them on a daily basis, and I can honestly say that my skin has never felt better!
